As a new field arising, astroparticle physics is nearly unknown from the general public. The International Year of Astronomy 2009 then offers a unique opportunity to highlight the birth of this “new astronomy” and celebrate the anniversary of the very first cosmic rays experiments, started one century ago.

From 10 to 17 October 2009, with open days, talks for the general public, exhibitions organized all over Europe, astroparticle physicists will then meet the general public and explain the challenges they face to answer the hot questions about the Universe, such as What is the Universe made of?”, “What is the origin of cosmic rays?” or “What is the nature of gravity or dark matter?”…

The European Week of Astroparticle Physics is an initiative of ASPERA and ApPEC , the bodies coordinating astroparticle physics in Europe.
